Chesed at Yad Eliezer

The main focus at Derech Etz Chaim is turning boys into b'nei Torah and transmitting the ability to learn Torah independently, by building their skills and love for learning. Of course, the year in Israel is filled with a myriad of experiences and activities that supplement and reinforce our main educational goals.

One of those components is chesed. Approximately once a month we take out time from afternoon seder to help the less fortunate. Our most recent visit was to Yad Eliezer to help pack weekly "food boxes" for needy families of Jerusalem and the surrounding region. Below is a photo of our students posing on one of the forklifts outside the main warehouse in Jerusalem after a couple of hours of work.

Yad Eliezer is a wonderful organization that we enjoy supporting where $0.97 of every dollar goes to needy individual and families in Israel. Compare that to the American Cancer Society where only $0.68 of every dollar goes to helping people or Amenesty International with under $0.76 per dollar.

Please visit Yad Eliezer's website and donate to one of their many worthwhile programs today.
